we did 'abigails party' last night as a one off for theatre members.
it was more nerve wracking than usual because we knew that everyone in the audience was either a director, or an actor, or had some other involvement in amateur dramatics - and, as we all know, members of theatre groups usually have plenty of strong opinions...
anyway, they loved it!
they laughed so much it was difficult for us to keep straight faces at times.
one or two mistakes - the most glaring of which is that the woman who played angie was supposed to be listening for laurence's heart beat as he lay dead on the floor at the end. but she seemed to lose her sense of direction and for some reason was pressing her ear down on his underpant area.
and to complete the trouser theme, i had the terrible feeling just after i walked on that i had left my flies undone. fortunately, i was wrong, but i didn't dare look!
there's a chance we will get the chance to do it again for a paying audience now, and we all hope so, because it is such a great play to do.
a few pictures were taken at our final rehearsal, and if they're any good, i'll post one here.
